ONE of the first people successfully prosecuted in Australia for shining a laser at an aircraft has lost an appeal against his sentence.
Lanfranco Baldetti, 23, was jailed earlier this year for two years and three months after pleading guilty to endangering the safe operation of an aircraft.
He was ordered to serve a non-parole period of 10 months.
Baldetti admitted he shone a laser at a police helicopter while it was flying over the Port Adelaide area in June last year.
The pilot was blinded for several seconds by the laser.
Baldetti appealed against his sentence and today the Court of Crimininal Appeal dismissed his appeal.
